Pro Feeling with Marco Haller from Team Katusha Alpecin
3 countries PRIVAT TOUR from Villach (AT) to Cormons (IT)
Easter Monday 22.04.2019 – while many decided to have a last comfortable Easter holiday, 13 road cyclists of the Haller Pro + Cycling Team, accompanied by the Pro Marco Haller of Team Katusha Alpecin, started early in the morning for a special spring tour. Pleasant temperatures invited to a challenging long-distance ride through 3 countries from Villach in Austria, to Tarvis in Italy, over the Predil Pass to Slovenia into the northern Socia valley, from there up to the Ucea Pass and the Passo Tanamea back to Italy, along the southern Julian Alps to Cividale, shortly back into Slovenia and then to the wine region Colli Orientli di Friuli and our finish line Cormons.
The road bike destination Alpe Adria showed its most attractive side – spring-like temperatures, historic streets with little traffic and a landscape to enjoy. That was a good thing as it was a total of 181 km and 2400 vertical meters to put behind. And most here in Europe have just recently started the outdoor cycling season. The support provided by the HALLER PRO + service team around Emil Haller was always very welcome. Be it by the support vehicle behind the peloton, the mobile refreshment stations or by the elimination of minor technical difficulties.
The first few kilometers were covered quickly before the first long climb to the Passo Predil started. The overall strong group harmonized well and so was the, meanwhile quite strong, headwind no problem. The presence of a Pro motivated everyone to go to his limit, knowing that support from the support vehicles and the guides could be expected at any time should it be needed. And at the 3 refreshment stations, everyone was able to take good care of themselves and fill up their energy stores. The first half of the ride was characterized by two long climbs followed by flatter passages where, with Marco Haller at the front, the pace increased again. The already tired participants could relax in the slipstream of the group. So all participants arrived after just over 6 hours of riding time at the finish, the Osteria La Subida near Cormons.
The day ended with an excellent dinner and everyone had another chance to get Marco’s tips and the latest information from the professional peloton, to share the experience made with friends and to celebrate the day.
Feel like a Pro, ride like a Pro and enjoy your limit! None of this was missing on this tour!
