You know that in spring a training camp is the ideal preparation for the upcoming road bike season. And together with Johnny Hoogerland we invite you to one of the best and most beautiful areas for that, the Costa Blanca in Spain.
And this is our promise: sun, dream roads, Vuelta climbs and efficient training days, without the typical “camp” character, but with a good dose of enjoyment.
Train in a pro region, with pros at your side and enjoy a premium level of support.
- Pro Johnny Hoogerland as special host & guide
- Training days in the preferred pro region
- Design the camp according to your requirements, 7 or 10 days, with 2 route options per day
- PRO+ support with guides, service team & support vehicles
- Home base at the 4 **** Gran Hotel Sol y Mar & SPA, Calpe
Costa Blanca is one of the most popular training spots for professional cyclists for years. It is not uncommon that you find five or more World Tour teams at the same time preparing for the season. And so our VIP guide and host, the Dutch Pro Johnny Hoogerland, spent many days and weeks there.
The area around the coastal town of Calpe also offers ideal conditions for us amateur athletes. With mild temperatures over the winter and its average of 300 sunny days and a few rainy days, the region is one of the “healthiest” in Spain due to its climate.
Every ride an experience …
In the backcountry of the coast, you can find almost perfect road bike conditions. A diverse topology and a network of countless low-traffic roads await us cyclists. And from smaller hills to high mountains, short hard climbs to long gentle mountain passes with a 4-5% gradient and sometimes 10-15 kilometers in length, everything is there to challenge yourself. On mostly best tarmac, you roll through citrus plantations to small villages typical for the country. Hairpin bends in series and fast descents ensure a good time and variety. It’s for a good reason that the Vuelta Espana has visited the area several times. And so we get the opportunity to measure ourselves on climbs such as the Col de Rates (620m / Vuelta 2010), Puerto de Tudons (1,020m / Vuelta 2016) or Puerto de Confrides (960m / Vuelta 2019). And that with the coast and the Mediterranean Sea almost always in sight.
A training camp of a special kind: train like a pro, just like you want it …
The training program is based on your requirements. Both in terms of intensity and scope, you decide how far and how hard you want it to be. After the voluntary morning core training at the hotel and the breakfast afterward, you have the choice between two routes and group options. And we ensure variety and progressive training rides in 3-day blocks. Base endurance, tempo units, climbing intervals and recovery rides are used by our guides and trainers to get you in shape without going over the limit.
Like the Pros the group enjoys support vehicles and a support team. HallerCycling provides nutrition along the way, offers spare parts in case of a break down and has your spare clothes always in reach.
Enjoy cycling, the region, the cuisine and your time …
We set up our base in the 4 **** Gran Hotel Sol y Mar at the beach of Calpe. In this adults-only hotel, pure comfort and enjoyment await you. Be it in the in-house SPA, on the exclusive sandy beach or at the daily gourmet buffet. Massages and a daily stretching program ensure that you are ready for new cycling experiences the next day!
